The main Farmhouse offers serviced accommodation on a B&B or Half-Board basis. Arrival
As part of our Welcome Host Gold award we offer the following services to help you on arrival and during your stay:
General
Stairs & Landings The bedrooms are on the first floor of the Farmhouse and there is no lift. The stairs to the bedrooms are accessed from the ground floor via a door leading directly to the stair case. The door at the foot of the stairs - providing you shut it - helps to ensure that, in the event of a fall, adults/children do not land on the quarry tile floor in the entrance area. If required a child stair-gate can be provided at the top of the stairs. The stair well has a hand rail on the left, and a solid wall on the right. The doorway to the stairs is 29" wide. The stair treads are 32" wide. The handrail takes up 4". If you require assistance with the stairs please ask and we will be pleased to help you. There is a chair at the top of the stairs so you can rest before moving on. The Single bedroom and bathrooms are accessed along a level landing, including a gentle slope, from the stairs The Double and Twin bedrooms are on a further landing two steps up from the main landing. There is a bannister on the left of the stairs. At night the landing by the stair well is lit by a night-lite to help avoid accidents. If necessary the main landing lights can be left on. The colour contrast between the short pile carpets and the walls is good. The walls are similar to Magnolia, others are washed terracotta, and the carpet is dark beige. Double Bedroom A spacious room with good colour contrast between walls (lemon) and carpet (blue). Two ceiling pendant lights plus one ceiling pendant over the dressing table mirror. Two bedside lamps. Standard double bed with divan base. Remote control TV & Cordless kettle. Door width 30". Twin Bedroom A smaller room with reasonable colour contrast between the pale green walls and carpet (heather). Two ceiling pendant lights, plus wall light over the dressing table mirror. One bedside light between the beds. Twin beds (3' wide) with approximately 2'6" between the beds. Remote control TV and Cordless kettle. Door width 30". Single Bedroom A small but cosy room. Single bed. Two spot lights plus one spot light over the bed for reading. Remote control TV and Cordless kettle. Good contrast of walls (cream) with short pile carpet (shades of heather). Door width 30". Private Spa Bathroom Walls and carpet are shades of cream. Bathroom suite is white. Grab rail on wall. Excellent lighting and light/shaver point over mirror. Door width 30". Private Corner Bathroom Walls are pale green. Carpet is beige. Bathroom suite is white. Grab rail on wall. Limited headroom due to beams - but these are painted black and provide good colour contrast. Reasonable lighting with added light/shaver point over mirror. Sliding door max width 25". Annexed En-suite Family bedroom U If you are travelling with assistance and can walk a few steps to use the en-suite bathroom this room may be suitable (insufficient space for a wheelchair in the bathroom). The room is annexed to the cottage located at the top of the farmyard. There is a steep gravel drive providing vehicular access to a level patio and parking area. This slope may be too steep for safe wheelchair use and therefore it would be better to use your car for access to the main Farmhouse for meals etc. External entrance door 32" wide with a concrete slope. A small ramp can be provided to help negotiate the door threshold. The en-suite bathroom is relatively compact with a normal width doorway; wall-mounted bath grab rail. Colour contrast between walls (cream) and floor (heather) is good in the bedroom. The bathroom walls are cream and the floor is beige/sand. Emergency Procedures If you have a disability (hearing or physical) please put the red Fire hanger on the outside of your bedroom door. In the event of fire our smoke detector alarms will sound. If you have a visual impairment, you should be able to hear our alarm. Remain in your bedroom and we will do our best to assist you to the nearest exit as quickly as possible. If you have a hearing impairment we will do our best to alert you to the problem and guide you to the safest exit. Please note that we would not hear the smoke detector alarm if there is a fire in the annexed family room, but the room has it's own exit. In the unlikely event that a fire prevents us from gaining access to your rooms through normal routes, we will attempt to gain access via external windows etc until the Fire Service arrive. Please remain in your room. For your own protection you should place duvets and bedding around the foot of the door. Dowse a pillow case or other material with water and hold over your nose to help filter fumes from the air you are breathing. There should be water in the kettle or the water decanter on the dressing table, or in the en-suite bathroom in the annexed Family bedroom. Stay near a window. Do not open windows until someone arrives to rescue you, as the draught could fuel the fire even more. These emergency procedures are based on government guidelines for what to do in the event of a fire.
